Tower Wadi Project

Gandhi Smarak Nidhi, Mumbai has adopted Towerwadi village in Panvel (District Raigad) which is predominantly inhabited by Adivasis for making it 'hunger free' and self-reliant in terms of drinking water, health, sanitation, education and vocational training for income-generating activities.
Gandhi Samrak Nidhi, Mumbai, Mani Bhavan Gandhi Sangrahalaya & Balwantrai Mehta Panchayatraj Jagruti Kendra conducted Cleanliness Campaign at Towerwadi and Group Gram Panchayat Maldunge on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti celebration programme (from 2nd October to 9th October 2017).
On this occasion, the following programmes were conducted: Cleanliness Campaign, Gandhi Darshan through paintings, book reading and drawing / essay writing competitions.
Inauguration of Construction and repairs of sanitation blocks project in rural areas- 12th April’21
Gandhi Smarak Nidhi, Mumbai & Mani Bhavan Gandhi Sangrahlaya in collaboration with a Rural NGO Kushtarog Niwaran Samiti Shantivan inaugurated 39 toilet blocks for rehabilitated cured leprosy patients involved in various activities such as agriculture, horticulture, weaving ,tailoring on campus. Their living quarters and sanitation facilities were considerably damaged due to the devastation caused by ‘Cyclone-Nisarg’ in June. Smt. Raksha Mehta, Chairman Gandhi Smarak Nidhi, Mumbai / President Kushtarog Niwaran Samiti expressed gratitude for the financial support extended to leprosy patients, thus fulfilling the dream of the Father of our Nation Mahatma Gandhi by undertaking this reconstructive development program for leprosy patients, that was extremely close to his heart.
Ashramshala Function 2019
In the sesquicentennial birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Trustees of Gandhi Smarak Nidhi Mumbai and Mani Bhavan Gandhi Sanghralya & Sane Gurji Vidyalaya visited Annasaheb Sahastrabudhe Adivasi Ashramshala- a residential tribal school of 500 students at Shantivan, Panvel, that is being managed by Balwantrai Mehta Centre, Kushtarog Niwaran Samiti.
Sports uniforms were distributed and tribal school students of Towervadi Village received support under the ‘Help A Child’ scheme for basic amenities, upkeep and an opportunity to receive holistic education thus providing a ray of hope for their bright future, in keeping with Gandhiji’s vision of constructive rural development, through the financial support of GSN Mumbai.
Chandaramji School donated library books to inculcate healthy reading habits.
Students put up a brilliant dance performance winning the hearts of everyone present.
Mrs. Raksha Mehta, President,Kushtarog Niwaran Samiti, in her welcome remarks gratefully acknowledged the financial support from Gandhi Smarak Nidhi Mumbai for the uplift of tribal students, besides giving relevant information about the institution and school to the esteemed guests.
Chief Guest, Mrs, Usha Thakkar, President Mani Bhavan Gandhi Sanghralaya addressed the audience, narrating interesting ancedotes about Mahatma Gandhi with valuable moral lessons and importance of a holistic education.
